Finally Christo’s long awaited debut album ‘Patterns’ is here, highlighting Christo’s unique approach to making music and also his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist. Although Christo explores many different ideas the tracks are gelled together by his signature sound and flow effortlessly into each other, creating an even greater experience when listened to as a whole album. Profound, joyful, dark, sometimes contemplative and sometimes just making your body move. This album works on the dancefloor but goes way beyond.

Feedback:

“Really feeling the depth of Christo’s forthcoming ‘Patterns’ album! Raw Deep House. Seriously this album is DOPE!”                                                                                                       Simbad

“Thank you for a great collection of music Christo”                                                               Robert Owens

“It’s amazing! Best deep album I’ve heard in years.”                                                                     Atjazz

“Very impressive debut; definitely not superficial, but definitely deep. I dig interesting textures and movements, something that’s lacking in a lot of 4/4 tuneage. Christo’s work has always been above par, so kudos for all his efforts coming together on this collection.” Velanche Stewart – Urban Landscapes/Velanches Playtime

“Great Deep House album!”                                                                                                      Michael Ruetten (CompostRecordsSoulsearchingRadio Show)

“I am a big fan of Christo – so it’s great to see him produce a solid album full of polished musical moments. Hard to pick out a highlight as every track sounds hot to me. I will be playing something on my radio show and quite a few in the clubs for sure. I think you will be hard press to find a more consistent and tasteful dance album out this year. Mature!” Red Rack’em – Smugglers Inn/Bergerac

“Quality Output from Christo, Nice Deep Vibes. ”Patterns” is one for the collection.”   Jullian Gomes / G Family – South Africa

Release date 2nd November 2012.

Introducing the debut release from the outstanding Staycj Pepper & Hllywd. Upcoming Producer Staycj Pepper (Stayc Junor) provides an amazing compostion and arrangement to this incredibly deep and heartfelt vocal written and performed by rising star Hllywd (Adam Thomas). Stayc has been on the local dj circuit for years but decided she wanted to be making music not just playing it and aren’t we glad she did. The vocal which is evocative of orginal deep chicago house fits seemlessly with the edgy deep minimal tech house track. Hllywd has been honing his vocal talents for a number of years and studied performing arts which gave him a solid base to perfect his stage craft which really comes across when you see him perform live. This is a massive tune and these two are certainly heading for big things. The release also brings remixes from three very different producers, Christo, Supalouisa and Blackass Johnson all of whom have featured on Superficially Deep releases before. Christo comes with two dark mixes the first with a full vocal and the second a stripped down dub. Supalouisa provides a lighter remix with a clever twist on the strings from the original and some amazing production. Blackass Johnson’s glitchy twisted remix with moments of pure beauty and genius round this release off superbly.

‘Moja’ is the fantastic new release on Superficially Deep Recordings from Saxophonist Gary Reader. For the recording of “Moja”, Gary was able to put together a strong line up featuring some of the best known names in contemporary British jazz including top bassist Andy Hamill (www.andyhamill.com), whose versatility extends to playing with artists as diverse as Kylie Minogue, Nitin Sawhney, Tim Minchin, Tracy Thorn, 4 Hero, etc. Drummer Joshua Blackmore (www.joshuablackmore.com) is one of the rising stars of British Jazz, and he has quickly established an outstanding reputation through his work with such projects as “The Floating Points Ensemble” and “Curios”. Mark d’Inverno’s (www.doc.gold.ac.uk) debut jazz album “Joy” received unanimously favourable reviews from such respected critics as the late Humphrey Lyttelton (BBC Radio 2) and John Fordham (“The Guardian” newspaper). More recently he’s been working with Ed Jones, Winston Clifford and Larry Bartley. Tom Fry (www.myspace.com/musicisrubbish) plays bass on “Explicity”. Tom is probably best known for his work with Tom Baxter (No. 1 in Ireland), but he is also an artist in his own right. Finally, the highly rated Corey Mwamba (www.coreymwamba.co.uk) has worked with Orphy Robinson and appears regularly at top London Jazz venues like Vortex and Café Oto.

That Feeling is Christo’s first solo release on his own label, Superficially Deep Recordings. Inspired by classic detroit techno anthems from back in the day, the original develops into a symphony of intertwining melodies. G.Family have delivered a hypnotic remix that keep you in the groove right from the word go. Supalouisa brings a more teched out afro flavour with her amazing mix and finally Blackass Johnson brings some twisted wonky atmospherics to the release with his gritty upfront sound.

3FALL is a special collaboration project from Atjazz & Christo to celebrate the launch of Superficially Deep Recordings. This 3 track EP drifts effortlessly through afro latin and tech landscapes, deep dark and gritty tech house, sick dubby basslines and slick hypnotic house with deep filmic pads.
